Taxco

We went to Taxco for the weekend and had a great time.  The city is known for it's silver mines and jewelry.  The streets were VERY narrow.  Some "two way" streets were so narrow only one car could fit down at a time--see the picture with all the white VW bug taxis.  It was so fun to get out and see another part of Mexico.

J. pointed out that no one asked him for money (although one person asked me--at least I think he was asking for money).  People would be pretty aggressive trying to sell things to you but generally they didn't askit's a stark contrast from where we live where everyone asks you for money.

A funny story from this trip is one time we went out to eat at a restaurant.  (Backtrack: for those of you who don't know, J. speaks Spanish and I don't but I'm trying to learn.) And J. asked for the check and asked if they accepted credit cards.  And the waiter motioned to me and said something to the effect of "Didn't she tell you, we only accept cash."  It made us laugh because there was no previous conversation with me and the waiter and I barely speak Spanish  but oh, didn't I tell you they only they take cash?  So funny.
